I have in my possession a Photo of the Gravestone of Charles Baillie Sutherland, who died aboard “The Comet” steamship in Gourock in 1825 . He was reportedly the son of Charles Sackville Sutherland of Ross Shire Scotland

HI Iam very interested in tracing my Grandfathers family. My father Rupert Erroll Sutherland ( Santos,,) passed away in 2005 but I have very little knowledge of the Sutherland family in St Vincent. I know that there are many Sutherlands there but are there any in Scotland? My dad used to talk about his father being a white scottish man and they called him Red Lion who married Wyonita Issac a cuban spanish lady, known as Lilian Sutherland afer they married. My dad was one of 15 and I have met some of his brothers. Uncle BOB (Hoffman), Benjamin, NEville. Let me know if any one is related to me. I am hoping to visit St Viincent in June 2010.

Hi everyone

I been trying to get started of my families history for ages now. I’ve just got back from my first trip to St.Vincent, where my dad was born and his side of the Family live. My dad was born and grew up in George Town and his dad’s name was Paul Sutherland. I’ve been told that my grandad’s background was Scottish and Carrib Indian. My nan’s maiden name is Adams, as is mine, as my dad took his mother’s name??? It’s all so confusing, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi my name is Debbie i was born to Enos Sutherland from Georgetown st vincent,his father was Amos sutherland and mother jane,im trying to trace my family roots,my father moved to England around 1940 and married an english lady{my mother}.i was born in 1962,my birth name is sutherland but i was fostered and took on the surname Newell.My father had brothers vinney,kelman i cant remember the others and i think a sister mary…if anyone can help find my family that would be great…ive traced back to Robert sutherland from the 1700′s [slave trade} my email is andy.debs@live.co.uk

This comment is for Lennox Sutherland from St. Vincent. I believe you are related to me. My father, Arthur Sutherland had a Brother Norris and my grandmother, Emily Sutherland lived in Fountain at some time. I went to St.Vincent in 2001 for the 1st time and met Uncle Freddie who lived in England. If you know Sybil, in Toronto, then we are related. Hi!

MY name is Lennox Sutherland from St.Vincent. I was born in George Town (By Accident, I was told). I am not sure what my Mother was doing in George Town, heavily Pregnant, with me. I grew up in Richland Park. My Mother is a Morgan and she was married to my Dad Norris Sutherland, from Fountain. I am married to a Norwegian and I have two boys.(A very mixed family – any wonder I am confused) Unfortunately, I do not know much about my Father’s side of the Family. I came across this site purely by accident. I would really be happy to trace my Father side of the Family first, the I will do my Mum. Any assistance will be appreciated.
