Parish records - They do exist
There are sources
A source of St. Vincent Parish Records from 1765 to 1870 has been transcribed onto four volumes (and later filmed in 1987 onto microfilm).
These volumes from Parish records of St. George parish, Church of England, St. Vincent, West Indies contain:-
- v. 1. Index of surnames - baptisms;
- baptisms, 1765-1826
- baptisms of slaves, 1826-1834
- baptisms, 1827-1837
- v. 2. Baptisms, 1837-1870
- v. 3. Index of surnames - marriages;
- marriages, 1765-1826
- marriages of slaves, 1825-1834
- marriages, 1827-1870
- v. 4. Index of surnames - burials;
- burials, 1765-1855.
The problem

It is fortunate that this limited 105 years has been transcribed (thanks to Richard A. and Lillian J. Ross) and then later recorded onto microfilm (thanks to the Mormons) yet the problem for all Vincentian and our relatives across the world, as always, is poor access to Birth, Marriage and Death records of our ancestral families.
Even to view this source will prove, for many, impossible. As of writing - there is currently no access to this single film on St. Vincent or in fact from any Caribbean island, across the wider world there are very few place of access also. I myself had to travel thousands of mile to England and visit what is now called the London Family History Centre to get to view the film (a very costly exercise).
We desparately need our own ONLINE resource.
Our own Family History Centre
With concerted effort - we our selves could bring the records home an give ourselves access.
We merely need to set up a Family History Centre of our own in St. Vincent - independent of the Registrar General Office or Department of Libraries Archives and Documentation Services. This will allow us to order a copy of the film and to begin to set up an independent online resource to access records of Births, Marriages and Deaths of our own families.
Vincentians around the world
Our family is large and now covers the globe - Vincentian around the world, we now call upon you to volunteer. We urgently need to put in-place our own Family History Centre on mother-island St. Vincent. So start a sponsor group; go hassle companies owned by St. Vincents; have a garage sale or church fate and get the cash in:-
- acquisition of a home for our records - (for a new library of records and a place for visitors to research)
- air-conditioning and storeroom - (to protect films and books we acquire)
- film-reader machines - (so visitors can read the film(s) we acquire)
- film-scanner - (so visitors can print copies of records found)
- computers - (so we can start collecting transcription data and posting it online)
- contribute an online store (web-services) for data-entry and searches
- help develop online-access - (use the film-readers and scanner to transcribe the records)
- Vincentian members would join together in transcribing and adding family records
