YOUNG, William – One of the Commissioners appointed by His Majesty for the Sale and Disposal of Lands in the Ceded Islands – 1760′s. Sir William YOUNG was a West Indian magnate, bring Governor of the islands of St. Vincent and Dominica. He owned three sugar plantations in St. Vincent [Calliaqua was one of them], two in Tobago, two in Antigua, and one in Dominica. In 1769, he was made a baronet, and at the time of his death, his estates’ combined worth was estmiated at more than 200,000 British pounds.
