Most people with family ties to St. Vincent & the Grenadines know how difficult it is to find information of genealogical value off or on the island. Decades of poor record-keeping and very little indexing of available documents in island repositories make the situation even worse. Fortunately, SVGAncestry has done some of the footwork for you and can help jump-start genealogy research on your Vincentian roots. You won’t find another online resource like this one with dozens of record lists going way back into the island chain’s history. On this website you’ll find thousands of names of individuals who were born, married, or died in St. Vincent, along with up to date information about where to find more records to help your family history research.

As a heads up, the Registrar’s office or the Archives is probably a better bet than visiting the Cathedral Anglican Church. Good luck to all the family tree researchers out there! St. Vincent has quite a few obstacles!!

I have been searching for information on my grandfather James Lang George. I know that he left St Vincent Island and came to the United States on a whaling ship with his best friend Johnny Simmons. He later sent for his wife Helena DeWeer from St Statius or St. Kitts. I have traveled to St Vincent and was unable to find any information. I was told that the last member of the George family died 2 months before my arrival. I have searched on this site and cannot find anything about my grandfather or possible relatives, Any suggestions?
    Many thanks for your help.

My grandmother Muriel Beatrice Finley was born here in the 1880′s. Her father was named Kelly–an Irish merchant. My grandmother married Adams and emigrated to Brooklyn, NY in the 1920′s. My name is William Caldwell the son of Emily, Muriel’s eldest child. All are deceased. But I am told there are Finley relatives–names unknown–on the island and shops bearing the name, Kelly, my great-great(?) grandfather.
