Leonora Jane “Didi” DERRICK (pictured below) married Samuel Douglas “Manny” KYDD.
She was a descendant of Thomas DERRICK who was an army engineer and a British Army Officer. He came to St Vincent with his siblings in 1784.
Thomas DERRICK, being an engineer, had the privilege of helping to fortify the existing Fort Charlotte, overlooking Kingstown, which was completed in 1806. He must have had the experience of being there and knowing something about the defense plans against the Caribs and French in the 2nd Carib War of 1795.

Her children were: William KYDD, James KYDD, Lawrence KYDD, Henry KYDD, Ernest KYDD, Randolph KYDD, Lydia KYDD, Jane KYDD and Vivian KYDD.
