ST. VINCENT BAPTISM RECORDS
These baptism records are only a tiny fraction of the actual records available on the island in the record books of St. George’s Anglican Cathedral in Kingstown, St. Vincent. It’s not yet known if other churches on the island have similar records. Click on the photo below to enlarge it and read all the names, or read the names from the transcriptions provided under the photo.
The photo on this page is courtesy of TONIE WRIGHT, who took the digital image during a visit to the Courthouse in Kingstown, St. Vincent.

It appears that Rev’d John GUILDING (1766-1818) of St. Vincent spent the first week of April 1813 in St. Lucia. Whether he was on vacation or on Church business is unknown. While in St. Lucia, he performed the baptisms of these 10 children. At least 5 appear to be children of Military personnel while the other occupations are unknown. Some like COX were born and raised in St. Vincent. It is possible that each family was known by the Rev’d. They may have approached him to perform the ceremonies while he was on St. Lucia.

I am looking for any information on the
De Freitas family. I don’t know much about them except they may be from the north part of the island. My gt-grandmother’s name was Emily (*Miss Joe*) De Freitas and she moved to Kingstown probably around the turn of the century. My gt-grandfather was George Corea (do not know where he grew up), also lived in Kingstown where he owned a dry-goods store (Corea & Co.). Any info would be great.
Thanks!
Hi,
I never knew that the Defreitas family was connected to the Coreas. My father is John from Parkhill. Two of our aunts lived opposite the police station in Colonairie. They were a large family. I believe that my father is the only one who moved to Kingstown to live.
Email me at defreitas6@yahoo.ca and I will put you in touch with someone who will know a lot about the family. Check out bdsnice radio station. The link is also on Tony’s Oldies (scroll down his home page, it’s on the left hand side).
